Mission & Principles
Mission Statement
Our mission is to strengthen democratic values by supporting civic leadership that upholds the dignity, rights and equal participation of all residents in our community.
Why “Unity in Action”
Political extremism and hate has found a home here in Oregon. It is ignored or encouraged, and we refuse to accept that.
Our name speaks to the need for our community to forge collaboration, bridge partisan divides, and constructively engage in pragmatic problem-solving to deliver results and real solutions.
Too many elected leaders feel no need for accountability. Meanwhile, a small group of extreme activists have seized upon a simple idea: by capturing local infrastructure in low-turnout elections, they can drag politics further to the extremes. That must change.
Help us support candidates that will fight back today and lead tomorrow.
What We Stand For
- We support candidates focused on local issues and effective governance.
- We oppose political extremism.
- We do not support elected officials and candidates who advocate hateful activities that incite or engage in violence, intimidation, harassment, threats, or defamation targeting an individual or group based on actual or perceived national origin, ethnicity, or political or religious belief.
- We believe international geopolitical issues can have profound impact on members of our local communities. However, politicians dividing our community by publicly taking sides on these issues is not welcome, wanted, or relevant to local politics.
What We Do
- Identify and support candidates through:
- Personal observation
- Review of public statements and social media posts
- Interviews
- Spend and advocate directly for better elected leadership.
